P3/4 have had a busy and exciting week exploring weight!⚖️
4th Jun 2025
We kicked things off by investigating non-standard units. Working in small groups, we used balance buckets and cubes to weigh different objects. Of course, we quickly realised that while cubes might be fun, they’re not exactly reliable – let’s just say, if you packed your suitcase using cubes, who knows what you’d end up with at the airport!🧊✈️
The next day, we got serious (well… kind of) and explored standard units, focusing on how to read scales and understand intervals. Miss Crampsie thought the best way to practise this was by making cornflake buns! We carefully weighed out our ingredients, discussing why measuring properly is important. Everyone took turns adding small amounts (because we know that makes it more accurate – even if someone may have snuck in an extra square (or 10) of chocolate…).👩🏽🍳🧑🏼🍳🎂🍫
Unfortunately, there are no pictures of the finished buns – they disappeared far too quickly. A fun, hands-on week of learning that definitely weighed in on the side of delicious!🤩
