School Council
At Cumber Claudy Primary School we promote the idea of being a listening school where children’s views are sought and valued. Each class from P4 – P7 elect two representatives to form the School Council and one representative from P1-3.
Regular circle time and class discussion provide opportunities for the children to raise concerns and put forward suggestions as to how certain aspects of school life can be managed or improved. Additionally, the children are able to submit suggestions via a class School Council ‘Suggestion Box’ which is checked by the chairperson, prior to each meeting.
To be chosen as a class councillor, the children self-nominate, create a poster and deliever a video based manifesto. Once the class has heard all the manifestos of their candidates, children from their class then cast votes on ballot day. These votes are counted and then the winners of each class ballot get to represent their class.
The School Council elections are being held on the 14th December. We look forward to appointing our school councillors as this is a really important role in the life of our school and we are really looking forward to having their input.
